Earn

What is Adsense?

Well, simply put, it's a program by Google which you plug into any website and Google shows some text advertising on the website. Whenever a visitor clicks on an ad, the owner of the website (YOU) get paid; For Every Click. The bottom line is, Google pays you when someone clicks to leave your site. Where else can you get paid when someone leaves your website?

How much you get paid depends on the keywords which make up your web page which displays the ads. This can range from 0.10 cents to $50 per click for the higher paying keywords such as travel and credit repair related.

Signing up and maintaining relationships with advertisers is a full-time job. Luckily, Google AdSense does it for you. Its advertisers range from global brands to small local companies, in categories ranging from Education to Travel, Mortgages to Patio Furniture and just about everything in between. Best of all, once you get started, the AdSense program requires virtually no maintenance.

When you display Google ads on your website, you'll be maximizing your revenue potential. Google places relevant CPC (cost-per-click) and CPM (cost per thousand impressions) ads into the same auction and lets them compete against one another. The auction takes place instantaneously and when it's over AdSense will automatically display the text or image ad(s) that will generate the maximum revenue for a page -- and the maximum revenue for you.

Getting started is fast and easy.

Getting started as a Google AdSense publisher is easy. It only takes a few moments to apply online for both content and search ads. Once you're approved, simply log in to your account, copy a block of HTML code and paste it into your existing ad server or any of your web pages. And that's it—you're done. Relevant ads start to appear on your web pages, and your earnings start to add up.

Learn and Earn: Tips for Teens

This guide offers suggestions to high school students with and without disabilities as they begin to prepare for careers. It focuses on the variety of work-based learning experience available. These include informational interviews with people working in fields of interest; job shadowing in an occupational area of interest; service learning in volunteer community positions; independent study in which academic credit is earned for work experience; and internships. Reasons for participating in work-based learning opportunities are followed by a discussion of steps to take in relation to the various team members including your school, your family, community resources, and mentors. Finally, the paper briefly describes two work-based federally supported learning programs: (1) school-to-work, a program under the School-to-Work Opportunities Act, which offers school-based learning, work-based learning, and connecting activities and (2) High School/High Tech, a community-based program that encourages students with disabilities to pursue careers in the technology industry. A resource list identifies 16 Web sites that provide information on the University of Washington DO-IT project. (DB)
